At our small family-operated breeding program in Eugene, Oregon, we have devoted decades to our love of the American “field” Labrador Retriever. Living on beautiful acreage, we take great pride in raising and breeding Labradors with a focus on health, temperament, and type. Our approach is highly professional and begins with the careful selection of parents to ensure the best possible puppies. All of our dogs are genetically tested via Embark while they’re young, and by the age of two, we conduct comprehensive health screenings, including PennHIP evaluations for hips and elbows, cardiac testing, and annual eye exams. This dedication to health and soundness is the foundation of our program.
We meticulously study pedigrees and perform DNA testing to avoid genetic diseases and achieve the look, drive, and athleticism we value in our Labradors. When one of our females is in season, we monitor progesterone levels to ensure timing aligns perfectly with the breeding process. If needed, we use artificial insemination (AI) to pair with top sires, whether local or far away. Once a female is bred, we closely monitor her throughout pregnancy, using ultrasounds at four weeks to confirm pregnancy and estimate litter size. Just before her due date, we take X-rays for a more precise puppy count. If there are any concerns, such as unusually large litters or big puppies, we work closely with our veterinarian to determine if a C-section is necessary. Otherwise, we provide hands-on care throughout labor, often pulling all-nighters to ensure every puppy is delivered safely.
Once the puppies arrive, the real work begins! For the next eight weeks, our focus is on health, cleanliness, and socialization. Beginning on day three, we introduce Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) exercises and expose the puppies to a wide range of scents and sounds, including fireworks, car backfires, gunshots, and yard care equipment. This early exposure is designed to help them develop into confident, adaptable, and well-rounded dogs. By the time your puppy is ready to go home—after receiving their first round of vaccinations, deworming, a full vet check, and reaching a minimum of eight weeks of age—they will have been given every opportunity to thrive.
Our ultimate goal is to send healthy, happy, and well-socialized puppies into loving homes where they can excel as companions, hunting partners, or competitors. Everything we do, from careful breeding to intensive care and training, is driven by our passion for the Labrador Retriever and our desire to uphold the breed’s exceptional qualities.
While we love all Labrador colors, we have primarily bred Yellow, Chocolate, and Silver. We’re also excited to announce that we will be adding the stunning Fox Red English Lab to our program in the coming years!
